Bio of Carl Johnson (CJ)
Earlier living in Liberty City, Carl reverts to his hometown in Los Santos after the repose of his mother, Beverly. There, Carl is greeted by Frank Tenpenny and Eddie Pulaski – a couple of crooked cops. The police guard Carl to an area controlled by Front Yard Ballas. The two throw CJ from a traveling police car and ensure that they’ll be in touch.
Soon after his mother’s funeral, Carl realizes that the rest of his family (and former gang, the Grove Street Families) are feeling difficulty with some opponents. Carl sees himself dragged back into the street life he probably once tried to leave behind.
Bio of Sean “Sweet” Johnson
Sweet was born to Beverly Johnson and an unnamed father in Los Santos He was later present at the births of his three younger siblings, Carl, Kendl, and Brian Behind 1987 Sweet became the head of the Grove Street Families and improved Big Smoke, Later on, Ryder and Carl joined the gang. His younger buddy Brian died in an accident, which Sweet charged on his other brother Carl; this resulted in Carl leaving for Liberty City. Sweet then went out into his own house, next door to his boyhood home.
During the game, Sweet is seen to have two distinct girlfriends, one of which Carl saved. Though, since Sweet shows little to no attention when Carl fires his girl out near the completion of the game, it is implied that Sweet and she are not in a relationship and he only has one date.
Bio of Melvin “Big Smoke” Harris
Big Smoke is one of the high ranking organs of the Grove Street Families and a childhood friend of Carl Johnson. Smoke ever wanted to be the most strong Gangster in Los Santos, which he finally becomes after making clandestine dealings with the rival gangs uncovering both Sweet and CJ.
Big Smoke was also born and raised in Los Santos with CJ, Sweet, and Ryder being his childhood buddies. Smoke always needed everyone to remember him later death. He made his way to become the right hand of Sweet, after CJ out of the picture, he grew more influential in the gang than ever.
Big Smoke was the first to reveal Sweet and made deals with Ballas and changed Ryder to join him too and get rid of Sweet so that he could take charge of the whole neighborhood.
Big Smoke got blinded by all the authority and money, he didn’t care anymore about his colleagues or family. He grew too invested in his drug manufacturing plant and needed to get away from the violence’s but it was extremely late for him. Carl gets into his plant using a swat tank and makes his way by Ballas and other gang members and finally defies Big Smoke. He shows guilt to Carl for what he did and says “I got caught up in the money, the power.. I had no choice.. I just saw the opportunity. When I’m gone, everyone gonna remember my name… Big Smoke!”.
Frank Tenpenny
Frank Tenpenny is the foremost antagonist of GTA San Andreas. He is a police officer with the Los Santos Police Department and heads up CRASH. He and partner Eddie Pulaski, who are united by new partner Jimmy Hernandez, are linked in creating trouble for the gangs of Los Santos and in particular for Carl Johnson. Tenpenny frames Carl for the death of Ralph Pendlebury and next employs him to grab the Ballas and Los Santos Vagos. Tenpenny later drops Los Santos and continues to have Carl make various tasks for him. He later turns on Hernandez and is put on an experiment. Tenpenny is acquitted, which sparks riots in the city. Tenpenny tries to escape in a Firetruck but is killed when he drives off a bridge and into Grove Street. His body is later mutilated and removed by the homeless.
